Mission 1
Part I

It was dark and Ed felt the pressure in the air. It was dangerous and no matter how many times he was in those situations he never stopped being afraid. It was healthy as the psychologist said. If he stopped being afraid he would be dangerous himself. He looked in around the cabin of the chopper. The men here were doing something even more dangerous. Ed was their safety in the chopper but in few minutes he would be going back to the base, to his house. He'll eat dinner and feed the cat. Then he'll go to bed and try not to think about Barry. It was loud in the chopper so they only talked trough the radio and only the absolute minimum. It was too dangerous if anyone heard them. When Ed felt a warm hand squeezing his he nearly choked. Yes, he was afraid about his own life but Barry was going further, he risked everything. Barry was jumping today with rest of his team into the darkness, 22,000 feet. They were to open chutes at 4000 feet, which meant 125 miles an hour. Ed thanked god that the weather was good, at least there was no rain, at that speed rain drops were like rocks. They had a full equipment on them which made Ed even more terrified for life of his lover. The risk that the load may move or render the free-faller unstable was great. Ed felt his hand shaking when he lift his free hand to touch Barry's face and felt cool plastic instead of skin. At that height they needed oxygen masks.
"Five minutes to the upload place" said a voice in the radio. Ed stood up as well as the other five men. Slowly the started to check their straps to make sure they were all in correct places. One strap in wrongly strapped would result in their death. It was too dark to check it other than to feel them with his hand. Barry was the last. Ed run his hands over his lovers' body feeling every line and knowing that even the slightest mistake could cost the life of the person he loved so much.
"Team ready for upload" he said as clearly as he could.
"15...14...13...12...11...10..."he heard the pilot. When they got to zero Ed followed the rest of the procedure.
"Request to open the door for upload"
"Request granted" Ed pulled the door with heavy heart. Red light above their heads came to life and everyone was staring at it. When it changed to green the captain of the team, Alex jumped, few seconds after him went Tim, then Hank, George and finally Barry. Ed wanted to catch him before he actually jumped. To save him from the horrible possibility that waited down below them.
"Upload complete. Door closing" said Ed instead and with tears in eyes closed the door of the chopper. Somewhere down there Barry was falling at inhuman speed.
"Home base. This is Red Eagle, upload complete, returning, status normal. Over."
"Red Eagle, this is home base. Understood. Over" said unknown voice over the radio. Ed sighed.
"Cheer up, Eddie, they are going to be just fine." said the co-pilot with a smile that could be heard even if not seen.
"I hope so. Barry's fucking cat hates me and if he won't be back soon I'm gonna kill it."
"You mean Mitsy? She's one freaking bitch, I remember her. Met her some time ago at barbeque."
"Well, she's having kittens now so she's twice as bad as she used to be."
The pilots laughed and Ed felt his heart becoming lighter. Everything will be ok. Suddenly through the radio came a voice speaking in Russian.
"Fuck! Where did they came from? It was supposed to be empty for next two hours. Fuck!" said the pilot with fear in his voice. Ed froze. Russians weren't nice to intruders passing their air boarders.
"Fuck! Anyone knows anything in Russian? Lets by some time!"
"Zdravstvuite!" said Ed remembering the wards Barry kept on saying for last few weeks.
"What?"
"That's hello!"
"Chris, you contact the base I'm going to try pretend to be stupid"
"Home base, home base, this is Red Eagle we have problems. Met a number zero junction." there was no answer on the other side and Ed felt cold sweat on his back and face.
"Ed, what else in Russian?"
"I...fuck...mne zhalko...I don't know..."
"Home base, home base, this is Red Eagle, do you hear me? We made contact with zero junction, home base, home base..." kept on trying co-pilot. A voice speaking Russian returned but they couldn't understand anything it said.
"Ed?"
"I don't know...fuck...can't remember a fucking word..."

6 month later on

Barry felt a smile on his face. They were going back. After half a year they were finally going home. He wasn't sure what was waiting for him over there. Their contact with London was minimal for the safety. He wondered if Ed was waiting for him. They never promised themselves fidelity but Barry was hoping that they could still be together after he came back. After all they already lasted several missions. They were together for over two years now, their anniversary past when he was still stuck in tiny village , not very far from Moscow but far enough to be awkward to get there.
"Two hours to the pick up point, guys." said Alex with good humour. His baby was born when he was in Russia. He didn't know if it was a boy or girl or even its name. Amanda, if it's a girl and Harry if it was a boy. They all had good moods. They were going home to their comfortable beds, tasty food, lovers and wives.

They landed and were welcomed by crowd of relatives. Barry saw Tim's girlfriend and their three year old daughter, Alex run to his young wife that had a baby in her hands. Barry noticed his mother holding hand of his seven year old son, Teddy and run towards them taking his son into his arms and kissing wrinkled and soft cheek of his mother.
"You're back, honey. Thank God you are safe now. Teddy and me prayed for your safe return every night." Barry smiled to her and hugged his son even tighter.
"So, how are you young man? I hope you behaved and nanny had no problems with you."
Teddy didn't answer but hugged him back and Barry heard him sobbing. Teddy's mother died of cancer when he was just two and Barry decided to leave him with his mother since his work didn't allow him enough time to rise a child. But he missed him a lot. He looked around to see if Ed was somewhere on the side giving him time with Teddy but he couldn't see him anywhere. Maybe he had a mission today or maybe he was waiting for him at home. Barry felt excited at the thought of Ed all slicked and ready to be fucked by him. He could nearly hear his voice
"It took you long enough...so, how about a hard fuck?" all thick with arousal.
His mother's hand brought him back to reality.
"Barry, I got some of your things and the cats and took them to my place. I know you must be hurting and I think it would be the best if you spent few weeks with me and Teddy."
"What?" asked Barry surprised." Why? What happened?" and then after a moment added "Cats?"
"Mitsy had her kittens. I took her home when I heard about...it."
"Heard about what?"
"You don't know, darling? I thought they would inform you...they rang us the very next day..."
"About what, mother?"
"Uncle Ed is gone to heaven." said quietly Teddy to his ear. Barry's heart stopped. He looked at his mother and when she nodded petting his cheek. She hated Ed and always said he made Barry turn away from God. But now even she was sad.
"I need to talk to the Chief Commander. Can you hold Teddy and wait for me for few minutes? I...I have to talk to him."
"Of course, honey. You do that. Me and Teddy are going to say hello to Miss Betty, right Teddy?" the boy didn't want to let go but when he finally did, Barry didn't look back when he ran to the Main Command Room.
"Chief commander? Chief Commander!" a young man ran opposite to him>
"Chief Commander is not avaible right now...can I help you?
"I have to talk to him right this moment. Tell him it about Edward Connelly." the young man looked at him carefully.
"Right away, sir...his picture is on the Memory Wall." Saying this he walked away. Barry felt his eyes itching and turned towards the Memory Wall. True enough he saw his lovers picture over there. The picture he had in his ID, with serious face and hair combed to the left. There was a plaque on the bottom saying his name and that he died honourable death. Barry's breath hitched when he saw the date of his death. 14th of September. Six months ago. The day they got to Russia.
"Barry Talbot?"
"Chief Commander?"
"I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm given to understand that you were romantically involved with Edward Connelly. He died for his country. I understand that you and your team were uploaded from the chopper that was later on destroyed by Russian air forces. We have the record of their last moment if you want to listen to them. They are unavaible for friends and relatives but due to your status I'm able to give you the access as well as compassionate leave. Before you return you will be required to pass psychological tests. I expect you want to leave now with your family. The tape will be avaible to you from tomorrow. Please accept my condolences." finally finished his speech Chief Commander. Barry have seen him only few times and never particularly liked him.
"Thank you, Chief Commander"
"Get some rest. Edward Connelly was a great soldier and you should be proud of him". Barry nodded and the man walked away. He still couldn't believe it. Ed was supposed to have the safer job than him. It was him who always said he expects him to try and be safe. Barry never told him 'be careful'. He never even thought that Eddie would be the one in danger. it was always him that was in dangerous position. He walked away from the picture of his lover and thought it's good that he doesn't have to go back to his and Ed's house. He wasn't sure if he could deal with it. He just wanted to go to the pub and get dead drunk and forget.

Pozdrawiam i życzę natchnienia. RM.
